Data shows that Mallow is a declining species of moth in the UK. But with skulking adults that are on the wing in September and October when fewer people are out light trapping, perhaps they are under-recorded too. Seeking out caterpillars in June has revealed the moth is alive and well in East Lothian, after an absenace of records for nearly 100 years.
